National Achievements
Volleyball
The Polish men’s national volleyball team continues to dominate the international stage. In 2025, they clinched gold at the Volleyball Nations League Finals in Ningbo, marking their sixth medal in the competition and solidifying their position at the top of the FIVB world rankings. Their consistent performance earned them the title of Poland’s Team of the Year for the fourth consecutive time at the Polish Sports Personality of the Year Gala held in Warsaw.
Football
In the 2025–26 Polish Cup, Górnik Zabrze emerged victorious, securing their seventh cup title by defeating Raków Częstochowa 2–0 in the final held at Warsaw’s Stadion Narodowy. This victory grants them a spot in the 2026–27 UEFA Europa League third qualifying round.
Basketball
Under the leadership of head coach Igor Milicic and captain Mateusz Ponitka, the Polish national basketball team achieved a historic fourth-place finish at FIBA EuroBasket 2022. Their success continued into 2025, with a strong performance at FIBA EuroBasket, showcasing the team’s growth and resilience.
Local Highlights
Warsaw Community High School
The 2025–26 academic year was marked by outstanding performances from Warsaw Community High School’s athletic teams. Both boys’ and girls’ track & field teams secured Northern Lakes Conference and sectional championships. Notably, Jordan Randall repeated as State High Jump champion. The girls’ rugby team clinched the state championship, overcoming teams that had bested them during the regular season. Additionally, the boys’ golf team won their conference and sectional titles, finishing 14th at the state finals. The school’s commitment to excellence was also evident in the classroom, with student-athletes achieving an average weighted GPA of 3.50.
Academic Excellence
Sixty senior scholar-athletes from Warsaw Community High School were honored by the Kiwanis Club of Warsaw for their academic achievements. Each student maintained a minimum GPA of 3.60, exemplifying the balance between athletic commitment and academic excellence.
